Drive Social Change

Many barriers exist for community organisations seeking to include all members of our society. Fears, misunderstanding, inability to access accurate information and not knowing where to turn to when seeking to support people all create barriers for Australia’s vibrant voluntary community sector. The Gawith Foundation is dedicated to improving the life chances of people with an intellectual disability and the support provided to their families and local communities. It is our vision that people with an intellectual disability can lead their lives with the same opportunities and responsibilities, and be treated with the same dignity and respect as any other member of their local community.

Our guiding principles are that:

  • People with disability are valued and have the right to live in the community with dignity
  • People should receive quality services based on identifying individual needs
  • Encouraging a network of supportive relationships is an essential safeguard for vulnerable people
